Rebecca Gareis Bent
A Baltimore native with ties to the Shore
Rebecca Bent was born in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up spending weekends on the Chesapeake learning to crab and
fish. By age 5 she had perfected the one handed scoop, pulling up a line and scooping the crab all by herself.
Rebecca owns multiple food and family lifestyle businesses. Her products have been featured in "O" Oprah Magazine, Coastal Living, and Better
Housekeeping, to name a few. All of her products emphasize "making families great" and "making life fun".
"Everything that I cook is easy and accessible. It reminds me of the way my grandmothers cooked. They taught me to
cook using simple high quality ingredients and straightforward recipes. Not too fancy, just real food that makes you happy and satisfied."
Rebecca is the author of several cookbooks and has appeared on the Today Show, ESPN, and over 20 other live
television and radio segments across the United States. She has been featured in publications such as Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, The
Baltimore Sun, and a host of others. Her photography has been featured in numerous best-selling cookbooks, including her own, and national and
international magazines and newspapers. Her favorite things to photograph are Maryland blue crabs and shore scenes.
"I believe there is something very special about the Eastern Shore and its way of life. I want my kids to grow up
appreciating the shore and its bounty."
Rebecca lives in New York with her husband, Bruce, and their three children. They spend weekends on the Chesapeake
Bay and Delaware Bay where she loves to teach her kids and her husband all about crabbing.
"You can learn a lot about a person by the way they eat Maryland hard crabs! I want to stay in touch with my roots
and share the stories with the world." |
